42nd Avenue Muralist

In May I came across this artist painting a mural on the facade of the corner liquor store down the street from my apartment. After seeing him working on it night after night I finally went to go talk with him, get his story and take some photos of the mural in progress. I gotta say it takes some getting used to walking up to someone cold and asking to take their photo. It’s good practice getting out of my comfort zone though (at least more socially challenging than photographing plum blossoms) and I find that people are usually totally happy to chat once you make an effort.
So now that he’s finished, 42nd Ave. has what must be the only original liquor-store facade mural in the neighborhood. It’s nice.. we could use a little more originality out in the avenues.
